Ferry from Dover to Rotterdam
Although there is no direct Dover–Rotterdam ferry, Rotterdam can be reached via Calais or Dunkirk after crossing the English Channel. The route remains a common option for travellers already located in southeast England.

We’ve travelled on every ferry route between Dover and the continent ourselves. We were particularly impressed by P&O Ferries thanks to its competitive fares, modern ships, clean facilities and spacious outdoor decks. For many travellers heading to the Netherlands, this is often the fastest and most affordable option.

Unlike the overnight routes to the Netherlands, Dover crossings are usually completed in under two hours. Shops, cafés and restaurants are available on board.
Crossing Belgium to Reach Rotterdam
Rotterdam lies around 155 miles from Calais and slightly less from Dunkirk. Most travellers continue through Belgium before entering the Netherlands.

Dover crossings are designed for speed rather than overnight comfort. Most passengers spend the journey enjoying a coffee, snack or meal before returning to their vehicle deck.
