Ferry from Newcastle to Rotterdam
If you want to travel from Newcastle to Rotterdam by ferry, there are two options. 1) You can take the ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam and continue your journey to Rotterdam, or 2) you can travel to Hull first and take the ferry to Rotterdam from there.

Our experience
In our experience, this is the most enjoyable ferry crossing to the Netherlands. It feels like part of the holiday rather than simply a means of transport and is also popular as a mini-cruise. The only drawback is that it leaves you slightly farther from many Dutch destinations than some of the other available routes.

DFDS operates a daily overnight ferry between Newcastle and IJmuiden. Rotterdam can be reached by road or rail after arrival in the Netherlands.

After arriving in IJmuiden, Rotterdam can be reached by road or rail. The city lies around 50 miles south of the ferry terminal.
By car
IJmuiden lies north of Rotterdam, making this route a good option for travellers who prefer departing from northeast England rather than driving south.
