Ferry from the UK to The Hague
There are no direct ferries from the UK to The Hague, but several ferry routes provide easy access to the city. The best option depends on where you are travelling from and whether you are travelling by car or on foot.
For most travellers, the Harwich–Hook of Holland ferry is the obvious choice, with The Hague less than 30 minutes away by car and easily reached by metro and train. Travellers arriving via Calais, Dunkirk or Rotterdam can also reach the city without difficulty.

A comfortable overnight crossing on large ferries. The sailing is long enough to get some rest while still arriving in the Netherlands early in the morning. Thanks to excellent rail and public transport connections, it is also a popular choice among foot passengers and cyclists.

We were particularly impressed by P&O Ferries thanks to its competitive fares, modern ships, clean facilities and spacious outdoor decks. For many travellers heading to the Netherlands, this is often the fastest and most affordable option.
Ferry services from the UK to The Hague
We’ve compared the different ways to reach The Hague by ferry. For most travellers, the Stena Line Harwich–Hook of Holland route is the obvious choice thanks to its short onward journey. Travellers from northern England may prefer the overnight DFDS Newcastle–IJmuiden or P&O Ferries Hull–Rotterdam routes, while Dover–Calais with DFDS, P&O Ferries or Irish Ferries remains an option for those who prefer the shortest sea crossing.

Onboard experience
Stena Line is using two of the largest ferries on the North Sea. Both Stena Hollandica and Stena Britannica feature restaurants, bars, lounges, cabins, children’s play areas and duty-free shopping. The overnight crossing is particularly popular, allowing passengers to arrive in the Netherlands early the following morning.
The Hague After Arrival
The Hague is one of the easiest Dutch cities to reach after arriving by ferry. Travellers using the Hook of Holland route benefit from the shortest onward journey, while Rotterdam and Calais also provide straightforward motorway connections.Travellers arriving in Rotterdam Europoort can also reach The Hague by public transport, although the transfer from the ferry terminal is less convenient than at Hook of Holland.
